Week of
January 1, 2013—A Brand New Beginning
Quote of the week:
Always dream and shoot higher
than you know you can do. Don't bother just to be
better than your contemporaries
or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.
—William Faulkner
Friends, fellow writers, and followers of Picture
This!—Welcome to 2013! And
welcome back to Picture This! The business of
writing took over my schedule for a
few months as Cowboy Christmas was launched and promoted. While I continue
that aspect of my writing life, and the
writing part of my writing life, and the
teaching part of my life, another one of my goals
for 2013, is to return to blogging.
I plan is to post daily again this year.
However, you’ll notice some changes in
Picture This! Each day’s entry will be
shorter than in the past and will be more in
the form of a tip to picture book writers. On
occasion, you’ll find an interview,
reports from conferences I’ve attended, or
creative challenges. Most days,
however, you’ll find a tip that will help you
as a writer, teach an aspect of writing craft, inspire you, provoke you, and/or
tickle you.
2013 has the potential to be a spectacular
year. But it will only be what we make it.
So let’s make 2013 the best writing year ever!
