What Would You Ask?

If you could interview a picture book editor, what would you ask? Post your questions here and I'll add them to my list. I can't guarantee that every question will get asked and answered, but I'll do my best.

Editors say they are seeking 'quirky' characters, and authors say they write 'quirky' books. Tell me more about your definition of the word 'quirky' and how it is a desirable quality in a main character?

If you received a picture book ms you really liked, but it had already been published as an ebook, would that destroy your interest in publishing the book? Or would you consider the online exposure to be preliminary marketing?

This is not really a question, but a request that they start accepting un-agented submissions again.

The market for picture books is competitive. How can a writer make their picture book stand out from the rest? Are picture book editors looking especially for specific topics or anything else?

Thank you for the opportunity to ask a question, I look forward to reading the interview! :)
