Tammi Sauer Interview, Part 4

Week of June 12: A Week with Tammi Sauer
Thursday, June 16—Looking to the Future

This is the fourth installment in a four-part interview with picture author and the pride of Oklahoma, Tammi Sauer.

Rob: What’s next? What are the goals you still want to reach and what can we expect to see from you in the future?

Tammi: Next up for me is the spring 2012 release Me Want Pet! which stars Cave Boy, a prehistoric kid in pursuit of the perfect prehistoric pet. The book is illustrated by the amazing Bob Shea. Ooga!
Also, the sequel to Chicken Dance debuts next spring. In Bawk and Roll, Marge and Lola go on tour with Elvis Poultry, but the chickens soon discover they are clutched by stage fright. Elvis tells them that if this flock can’t rock, he’s gotta go solo, so it is up to Marge and Lola to figure out how to lose their jitters and shake, rattle, and roll. Bonus:  I’m excited to report that illustrator Dan Santat has made Elvis Poultry into a bit of a diva.
As for goals, I hope to push myself to come up with fresh, irresistible, character-driven manuscripts. I am always striving to make myself say YES! Those are the manuscripts that generally find a home.

It’s Your Turn!
